Cathy Matos says …..
When I first began working with Mexico…Itineraries were always built around the old traditional routes. How I wish they would come back!! Only the other day, I was working with my grandson on his home-schooling project … Subject Diego Riviera and Frida Karlo….My goodness how the memories came flooding back……!
THE WONDERFUL MUSEUM OF ANTHROPOLOGY.
THE BALLET FOLKLORICO.
THE FLOATING GARDENS.

all still there but I suspect hard to find… In those days, The British Ambassador would open his garden…The visit to the home of Frida and Diego would include a sumptuous luncheon in an old Hacienda garden .
The Classic Tour would then be by private Car to CUERNAVACA and TAXCO.
Then onto Acapulco…. (Where in my day you would still rub shoulders with the likes of Frank Sinatra, Elizabeth Taylor, President Clinton the list is endless, Then onto OAXACA and then to THE YUCATAN…… so, for the present day…herewith my small luxury and very Private collection of my recommendations.

NEWS FROM MEXICO.
The first most amazing news I have to comment on…The London Underground and my actual local station by incredible coincidence. sent the message below following the disastrous and tragic Metro train crash in Mexico City…. I was completely touched by this message.
WORLD TRAVEL TOURISM.
The annual council global summit met in Cancun, The Spanish Tourism Minister; Fernando Valdes , was in attendance. Airport digital passports were discussed.
Very encouraging news from Manuel Diaz Cebrian, who heads up the U.K. Representation for this area of Mexico.
The fabulous Ghyslaine is working very hard on the annual TIANGUIS TRAVEL FAIR due to be held in Merida November 21st – 24th.
F.I.T.U.R. MADRID. This exhibition, in spite of the Pandemic, went ahead and was a success. Mexico had 2 Pavilions very well attended.
One last thing! I have been reading the Richard Burton diaries… What a joy to relive all those memories of this era when he was living with Elizabeth Taylor in Puerto Vallarta… Obviously I was nor around at the time, but I remember the house. This resort was so glamourous, romantic and exciting… Cancun did not exist, nor did the All-Inclusive Hotel, just cobbled streets, beautiful beaches, wonderful boutiques, Art galleries and all so very Mexican… So beautiful and so quaint, Puerto Vallarta is still there.
(TUI have a weekly flight)!!!
See you all in Merida,
